The metaverse is on its way – although it’s far from sure what it’ll look like. One company with big ideas is rooom, and I’ve translated the CEO’s visions for the mass market in work like this LinkedIn piece.



INTRO: What led to the diverse, modern, globalized economy we enjoy today? As a metaverse pioneer, you’d expect us to say “technology”. Actually, it’s something older: the division of labor theory. A cornerstone concept of classical liberalism, around since at least the Industrial Revolution.
Division of labor is Economics 101. It urges: do what you’re best at, and outsource what you’re not. Because doing what you’re best at enables you to produce more with less effort. Which creates more value, letting those you outsourced to create more value in their area of expertise, and so on.
IT services has long been a hotbed of outsourcing. Because the skills of managing and maintaining technology infrastructure aren’t a core competency of most companies; it’s far more efficient to bring in an MSP (Managed Services Provider) with specialist knowledge.
