I spoke in a debate at the House of Commons last night. Yes, really. Invited along by a debating society to a session in one of the rooms off the main chamber, and while opposing the argument I stood up and made a brief comment. An MP was chairing the debate, and excused himself in advance in case the lobby bell rang – he’d have had to rush off and vote next door. So, not exactly staring daggers over the dispatch box, but not too shabby for a Monday night’s entertainment, either.
